Terms of Service
Last updated 28 August 2026.
Who we are
Brier is operated by an individual based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using Brier you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
What Brier is
Brier lets small private groups create prediction markets on real-world questions, submit probability estimates, and get scored on calibration using Brier scores. There is no real money involved anywhere in the product. Predictions are for interest and for tracking how well-calibrated your thinking is over time. Brier is not a gambling service and must not be used as one.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Brier. By using it you confirm that you are.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission. You can delete your account at any time from Account Settings, which permanently removes your profile, avatar, group memberships, and predictions.
Groups and invites
Anyone with a valid invite code can join the group it belongs to. Group admins can resolve markets and manage group details; any member can create a market or leave a group at any time. Admins can remove members and regenerate invite codes.
Market resolution
Markets are resolved manually by a group admin, who marks the outcome as YES or NO. Resolution is final and cannot be reversed through the product. Admins are trusted by their group to resolve fairly and factually. Brier does not verify outcomes and is not responsible for how an admin resolves a market.
Content you post
You keep ownership of the market titles, descriptions, usernames, and images you add. You grant us a non-exclusive licence to store and display that content to the other members of your groups so the service can function. You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
You must not post or transmit content that:
- is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights;
- harasses, threatens, or abuses another person;
- is hateful or discriminatory;
- contains malware, or attempts to disrupt or gain unauthorised access to the service;
- impersonates another person or misrepresents your affiliation with anyone.
Acceptable use
- Don't use Brier to facilitate real-money gambling or wagering.
- Don't share invite codes publicly or use them to join groups you're not invited to.
- Don't attempt to access another user's account or another group's data.
- Don't scrape, overload, or probe the service, or bypass its security or rate limits.
Reporting a problem
To report abuse, content that breaks these terms, or a security vulnerability, email contact@brier.live. We will review reports and may remove content or suspend accounts as described below.
Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access, or remove content, if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if your use puts the service or other users at risk. Where practical we will tell you why. You can stop using Brier and delete your account at any time.
No warranty
Brier is provided as-is and as-available, without warranty of any kind. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, that the service will be free of bugs, or that any prediction, score, or resolution is accurate.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, profit, or goodwill, arising from your use of Brier. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Brier is a free service; our total liability to you for any claim is limited to 50 GBP.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against any claims, losses, liabilities, and reasonable costs that arise from the content you post, your use of Brier, or your breach of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will update the date at the top and notify registered users by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Brier after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute.
General
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms are the entire agreement between you and us about Brier. You may not transfer your rights under them; we may transfer ours to a successor operator of the service.
